On November 8th, 2008, I took the MPRE (the legal ethics exam that law students must take and pass before they can become lawyers) A couple hours ago, I received notification that I passed - with plenty of points to spare ![]()
In September 2008 I began a legal internship with the Hurley Stanners law firm, which is based in Oak Park, IL. The firm focuses on business law, intellectual property (trademark and copyright), real estate, and contract law.
During the summer between my 2nd year and 3rd year of law school, I interned with the United States Army JAG Corps (the Army’s lawyers). This article discusses my experiences, and the areas of law in which I worked. I also have a few pictures from my JAG summer internship.
As many people know, this last week at the Supreme Court was interesting to say the least. Issues addressed included capital punishment, the 2nd amendment, the Exxon punitive damages case, to name a few. For those looking for a blog that follows the Supreme Court cases, I’ve found SCOTUSblog to be excellent.
Since part of my JAG internship involves working with and appearing in court with an Assistant US Attorney, I applied for and received a 711 license. For those not familiar with Illinois’ 711 license, it allows Continue Reading »
Anyone who has read the reviews of my Cycleport and Aerostich motorcycle protective gear knows that I take motorcycle safety seriously. That is why I purchased a pair of the Icon Field Armor shorts. Here is my review of them: Continue Reading »
I’ve had the Icon Merc Long Gloves for about a year, and thought I would write a review.
I enjoy motorcycle riding but also recognize the risk. I have excellent protective gear from Cycleport and Aerostich, but wanted to add some additional impact protection. Since I do the vast majority of my riding in the summer, I wanted something that would be cool, and that wouldn’t hamper the airflow through my Cycleport mesh gear. The Bohn Cool-Air Bodyguard Adventure Pants seemed Continue Reading »
Slashdot covered an interesting NY Times article which discussed how privacy and confidentiality are so important to lawyer and their clients, and yet how encryption software is seldom used by lawyers and their clients. As a law student who majored in computer science, with an interest in cryptography, I find this to be Continue Reading »
The very first piece of motorcycle protective gear that I purchased was a pair of Draggin’ Jeans, which are normal enough looking jeans that have a Kevlar lining in the knee and seat of the pants area. Although I don’t wear these jeans often anymore, since I believe my Cycleport and Aerostich gear is more protective, I do like these jeans and though I would write this review.
I have used the HJC CL-14 “kast” helmet for about a year, and thought I would write this review. Overall I have found this helmet to be great, in terms of features and comfort go. I haven’t Continue Reading »
Motorcycle gloves are an important piece of protective gear, and the various features of the gloves matter quite a bit when it comes to safety and comfort. Since the rider has to steer and operate the majority of the motorcycle’s controls using their hands, comfort becomes especially important. I was preparing to write reviews of the motorcycle gloves I own (and I may still do this in the future), but now I will focus on the features that can be found in motorcycle gloves, and what these features mean for the rider Continue Reading »
As I finished my 32 page legal writing assignment, I realized how much law school had changed my attitude and expectations toward writing. I’ve never been adverse to writing, but I certainly didn’t consider it to be a hobby. I also had a much different opinion as to what constituted a “long” writing assignment, even after publishing articles related to mass spectrometry and bioinformatics as an undergraduate. Law school has changed all that, and for the better Continue Reading »
I purchased the Sidi Vertigo boots after finding that the toe of my other boots didn’t fit comfortably under the gear shift lever on my Ninja 600. I’ve found the Sidi Vertigo to be comfortable and functional, so I thought I would write a review for anyone Continue Reading »
I enjoy motorcycle riding but also recognize the inherent risk associated with operating a motorcycle on public roads. I have excellent protective gear from Cycleport and Aerostich, but I would rather not have to test the protective ability of the gear at all. Toward that end I have added Continue Reading »
My old Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) was getting a bit old, and and only provided a few minutes of run time for my primary computer. I began researching to find the best UPS out there, in the $200 range Continue Reading »
As you may have noticed, I use Wordpress for this site as well as some of my other sites. I’ve found a few plugins to be exceptionally useful, and list them below Continue Reading »
As anyone who has read the reviews of my Cycleport and Aerostich motorcycle protective gear knows, I take motorcycle safety seriously. Toward that end, I purchased a TPro Forcefield back protector, which is also sold as the “Joe Rocket Speedmaster” back protector Continue Reading »
Google is excellent when it comes to relevant search results, but can be lacking where security and privacy are concerned Continue Reading »
After what feels like the longest and snowiest winter in recent memory, it is finally warm enough to comfortably ride my motorcycle. I had nearly forgotten how nice it feels to effortlessly accelerate Continue Reading »
During the summer of 2008 I am going to take an approximately two month break from my employment with the software company ActiveCampaign for a full time summer internship with the United States JAG Corps (the Army’s lawyers). I learned about this internship opportunity in the Continue Reading »
It is official: I now own 100 domain names.
I reached the century mark today with the purchase of Continue Reading »
For no good reason at all, I have set up an IP address lookup tool at http://tellipaddress.com/
Currently, it only displays the visitor’s IP address, but more information will likely be added in the future.
